Upgrading Your Car Sound System
Listening to music while on the road, especially during high traffic, can keep the rage at bay. If you use a car that has been released in the market for almost a decade, then chances are that the factory car sound system is already outdated.
Young drivers today prefer a more up-to-date system that incorporates the use of the latest technology. Hence, if your cars stereos system has not yet been updated recently, there are many ways to give it a boost by installing some of the latest electrical and electronic gadgets available in the market.
To get better sound you may want to avoid cheap car audio systems.
Partial Vs Full Upgrade
To get the best performance from the car sound system, it is best to replace the entire set rather than the individual parts. However, if the system is already good enough except for a few parts, then replace individual parts to save on cash. The system is composed of several electronic devices, each having its designed function and purpose.
The head unit is the main part of the system and is installed directly on the dashboard. It provides the physical interface that allows the driver to control the music, volume and quality.
The most recent car sound system usually includes DVD players, USB ports, iPod ports, amplifier, and radio receiver. Sometimes cheap car sound systems don’t include as many extras.
The amplifier, connected to the head unit, is useful because it amplifies or increases the signals coming from the main unit to the speakers.
Usually, the speaker set consists of two or more speakers and a sub-woofer. Sub-woofers are designed to provide enhanced bass signals. The radio receiver is used to receive radio signals coming from a nearby radio station or frequency transmitter.
When choosing a car sound system head unit, make sure to check connectivity options. Determine if it has ports or Bluetooth that allow media devices to be connected. Choose units that incorporate the use of an LCD screen for video viewing, especially if the car has a rear view camera.
If your amplifier does not produce enough sound power, consider installing an external amplifier. The external amplifier can increase the volume of sound output in the speakers without damaging its quality and clarity.
Make sure to choose the right number of channels for the amplifier depending on the number of speakers to be connected.
In addition, consider purchasing a unit with a higher wattage rating for more powerful speakers. If your willing to spend more, you’ll get better sound than with cheap car stereo systems.
Speakers and Sub-woofer
You have the option to choose a new speaker set with two speakers and a sub-woofer. Just keep in mind that the more speakers you have, the quality of sound produced by the car sound system will be much better and clearer. If you want better sound quality, go for more speakers.
Make sure that the speaker size does not take too much space inside the car though.
Capacitors are like batteries. They store sufficient power for the amplifier and the speakers when necessary. These devices are useful when the main power source for the car does not provide enough power supply. If you install speakers and amplifiers that require higher energy consumption, choose capacitors with higher capacity as well.
If noise interference from the outside compromises the quality of sound produced by the car sound system, consider installing interior insulation or sound proofing. Make sure the wires used to connect the speakers and amplifier to the head unit, are of high quality as well.
If the signals running the wires are easily interfered by external radio signals and cause noise, replace the wires with better ones.
The cost of all these cars audio systems can really cost a lot of money so make sure to consider shopping around for discount prices and promotional offers.
