Street Guardian SG9665GC v3 Review
So you’re looking to buy a dashboard camera for one reason or another, yes? And you’re thinking the Street Guardian SG9665GC looks pretty cool. But is it really worth investing in?
And the very short answer to this is, yes. It really is. And I’ll explain why I love this particular dashboard camera in my review below.
If you’re curious (or in a hurry):
This is a great buy, especially if you get the 3rd version of this with the package. This is new for 2020. And it comes with a whole lot of cool extra stuff like a 32 Gigabyte (Yes, 32 Gs!) microSD Card to keep all of your video on. Which is really cool because if you need to, you can just keep the card and use a new one when there is something on the card you want to keep.
Like maybe you had an fender-bender and want to keep the video footage for court or something like that. You can!

But it has more cool stuff too like GPS that works on your phone. Meaning maybe someone steals your car (heaven forbid). What do you do?
Well, with the GPS you’re able to see where your car is at any time simply by using an app on your phone.
This can be really nice when your kids borrow the car and tell you they were at the library studying or going to the auto parts store to buy injector cleaner, yet your GPS is telling you they’re at the Corner Bar!
Yes, this is a pretty cool add on for any car. And can be a very serious help if you ever are in an accident, or get pulled over by a police officer. Or if you want to see what your kids are doing and where they’re going. There are plenty of reasons to want and use a dashcam.
Just know though, this particular cam can’t see at night. If you’re looking for the best backup camera with night vision, check this article.
Why you should consider buying a dashboard camera?
This technology hasn’t been around too long, nor has it been widely used to the point that it perhaps should. If everybody used a dashboard camera, there would no longer be a need for going to court for a car accident, or having to deal with the many different questions that your insurance provider will ask to ensure that they don’t pay for an accident that was your fault.
If you have a dashboard camera, you will no longer have to worry about any of these problems, and it could even end up helping you save money. These are not only useful for helping fight car accidents, but also any sort of negative event that can encounter while driving your car.
Imagine having somebody steal or damage your car only to find out that they were being recorded and tracked the whole time.
Many people who purchase smart phones will equip their device with some sort of GPS tracking tool to ensure that if it ever gets stolen they will immediately be able to find it. However, despite the fact that your car costs much more than the average smartphone, people will still overlook using GPS technology to help protect their car from theft.
Introducing: The Street Guardian SG9665GC v3 for 2019
Although there are many different models of dashboard cameras, one in particular that sticks out is the Street Guardian SG9665GC. Using the included camera and microphone, this dashboard camera records any activity within and outside your automobile using customizable settings.
For example, you can mute the microphone during the recordings to ensure that your video is what matters the most. You can also have the recording automatically loop over each other to save only the latest and most current footage. The only downside about this is that you will want to purchase a storage device that will allow enough hours of footage before recording over previous recordings.
If you purchase a 256GB SD card, you can have up to 37 hours of footage from the device. This means that you can leave your car unattended for a day and a half, and still expect to see everything that happened around it during this time. The idea is that you will be using your car consistently enough to constantly want new footage coming in.
Pros
- 1080p, 30 fps, 15 mbps recordings provides HD quality recordings in the event that you need to prove yourself
- Capability to hold up to 37 hours with a 256GB SD card
- Recordings loop over each other, and don’t need to be deleted
- Night vision technology provides excellent vision for night-time occurrences
- Microphone can be muted to allow more privacy
- Uses the power from your car, and won’t need a separate battery
- Stealth, small design
Cons
- If you don’t save your recordings on a separate device, you can lose footage since it automatically loops over
- Takes away some windshield space
- You need to purchase a SD card separately if you want more than 32GB of space
Summary
The device safely and securely mounts to your windshield so that it can see both action in front of the vehicle and within the car itself. It is powered through your car charging port and an internal capacitor, eliminating the need for a battery.
Since it is capable of recording crisp HD recordings both during the day and night, you will never again worry that an accident caused by another driver will harm your wallet or insurance premiums. And if you need a Bluetooth backup camera instead, click the link.
For the price and specifications, this model stands as a very competitive and affordable option for anybody who wants a dashboard camera.
Not all dashboard cameras are capable recording at all times, and may only be triggered by sudden movements or crashes. If you solely rely on a sensor, you can risk the failure of the sensors themselves in the event of an accident. For this reason, and the many different customizable features and settings, this dashboard camera stands out as one of the best options on the market.

Remember
Purchasing a dashboard camera is an investment in the protection of your car. When an accident happens, it is exhausting to rely on your word vs the word of another (or several) people.
